BOLLOCKS IN BRIEF

While huge swathes of the population merely want the police to turn up now and then, the EHRC wants the Force to stop being racist, take more degrees in diversity management and so forth….the Government is floating the idea that greater use of social science to track terrorists – more social scientists, psychologists and probably mediums too – could be the answer to this 23,000 crowd whose whereabouts are unknown to us, beyond ‘here’…that means we’ll need more…Crackers, yes – that’s the word I was searching for….now that everything’s hunky-dory in Greece, the country is bracing itself for the second general strike in a month….Health Secretary Andy Burnham has said that a 10% levy on every estate could be a neat way to pay for elderly social care, aka taxing the corpses who paid all that tax while they were alive to fund the care of all those following in their footsteps….people have started accurately pointing out that the government’s plan for an electronic border checking system to monitor 95% of journeys by the end of this year is “not credible” – especially as it won’t be there to do it….Gordon says that charges of making political capital out of the Afghanistan visit are ‘incredibly unfair’,as were the charges of lying to Chilcot, lying about his health, lying about wanting an election in 2007, blackmailing Tony Blair until he buggered off etc etc…..Hospitals have been criticised for failing to give patients the medicine they require; in an unrelated development, the police have been criticised for not catching criminals, and the Treasury is under fire for not having any money…..Baroness Ashton has launched a review of proposals for an EU military headquarters- she obviously needs somewhere to fly her Lear jet to…..and the latest YouGov/Sun opinion poll puts the Conservatives on 37% and Labour on 32%. This will apparently make Labour the biggest Party in the new Commons, thus unwittingly proving David Cameron’s firm view that the voting system is entirely fair.
