TREASURY DISMAYED AS EU JOB SLUMP HERALDS BUSTEDRECOVERY

BLAIRITES IN DESPAIR AS EVIDENCE BUILDS THAT LEFT HAS HIJACKED BUDGET

SLOG FIRST WITH THE NEWS AGAIN

New data from Eurostat shows a massive drop in EU member nation employment.

EU unemployment rose by 4 million last year, of which the majority – 2.7million – was in the Eurozone. It is the first time in the EU’s history that a drop in the employment rate of anything like this magnitude has been seen. (Yesterday The Slog exclusively revealed that a UK Treasury memo had been circulated predicting that the Eurostat data would be dire).

The slump will fuel calls for UK Treasury forecasts to take account of the bad news and add to the growing dismay among UK business leaders about signs of a Budget soft on deficit reduction.

Equally dismayed is Labour’s remaining Blairite rump, which has lost the Prime Minister’s ear to the Left’s Balls-Whelan-MacNeill-Dromey axis.

“Alistair has no protection any more” a Treasury official told The Slog this morning, “and our forecasts are looking sillier and sillier with every day”.

TenMole is lying low for the time being: Charlie Whelan is not a nice man…and his spies are everywhere.
