Ahead of the Beeb’s resident Government professor, The Slog tweeted a projected 35 seat(ish) majority after the Sunderland result. It’s an excellent result for the Tories in a solid Labour seat where there isn’t much point in voting Conservative….and backs the Slog evidence of Blue support remaining very loyal.

BUT

The turnout at 55% is well below what signs elsewhere are of long queues to vote. Chances are lots of Labour voters didn’t turn out.
