The editor has been set a challenge, and it’s a fair one. Fan of the NHS and veteran nbyer Dietrich von Ausland has pointed out that it’s easy to carp at utter incompetence on the part of endless Health Ministers, but much more difficult to say what you would do. And in particular, he asks somewhat forcibly what I’d do with the £360billion I said had been wasted over twelve years.

Like I say, it’s a reasonable observation and it deserves a reply – but not in the main Slog column, as everyone else would get bored. So it’s off-column, on-page and off-message at this link:
