Mr Nowarah is being unecessarily modest about this.
The 45 year old is in fact Chairman of the Justice for Palestine organisation based in Glasgow. He organised the Scottish contribution to the ‘aid flotilla’, and he writes the JfP website. This is what he wrote on the site some weeks back:
‘Media this country has been proved to be biased in favour of Israel so the general public have a reinforced perception of Palestinians as terrorists’.
Well Hasan, judging by the torrent of opprobrium poured onto Israel’s head in the last few days by the UK media and political Establishment, I’d say that’s at best an eccentric judgement, but we’ll let that go. And as for terrorists, Hamas has seized power in Palestine….and on the first page of its manifesto, Hamas refers to itself as ‘a terrorist organisation’.
Nowarah accuses the UN of:
‘….complicity in the International Quartet’s refusal to negotiate with Hamas’ and he ‘urged the world body to withdraw its membership from the group, which is also made up of the EU, US and Russia’.
Any of this sound familiar to readers?
This is what Hasan said when umpteen media mikes were thrust in front of him yesterday:
“Israel’s actions are totally unacceptable. The way we have been treated is nothing short of piracy”.
Hasan Nowarah is also on the record as supporting Hamas leader and illegally appointed Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh for calling on ‘UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon not to let leaders of the Israeli army escape punishment and being brought to courts for war crimes during the assault on Gaza last winter.‘
Hasan Nowarah came to Britain in 1985, penniless and Stateless. The UK gave him succour, but still he thinks that we are part of a ‘ruling quartet’ at the UN. On his own admission, the Israelis boarded his ship with paintball guns. Mr Nowarah has as yet offered no explanation as to why live rounds were fired at the Israelis soon afterwards…and what these and other arms were doing on a ‘peaceful’ aid flotilla.
I don’t want to pull age rank here, but I’ve been through this scenario so many times. Hamas and its fellow travellers talk a version of the 1984 Newspeak so brilliantly invented by George Orwell in that novel. It’s a rigid syntax using repetitive phrases so that not very bright and extreme people can learn their lines – and thus hoodwink not very bright people in the West. I witnessed it pouring out of the USSR and Eastern Europe for the first four decades of my life. Trust me, I know it when I see it. It says day is night,up is doen and black is white.
Hasan Nowarah has all the syntax in all the sizes and all the colours. ‘Unacceptable’, ‘piracy’, ‘proved to be biased’, ‘Israeli war criminals’, ‘refusal to negotiate with Hamas’, ‘international quartet’: the bloke sounds like a middle-eastern Ken Leninspart.
Do I have an agenda? Beyond looking for the truth and assessing the facts – and using experience plus commonsense – no I don’t. I’m not Jewish, I’m not a Zionist. I’m an Arabist if anything – and I wish the US & EU foreign services would work harder to understand the Arab mentality.
But as it says at the top of the site, I am a bollocks deconstructor, trying where I can to show the difference in smell, texture and efficacious application between bullshit and putty.
This ‘aid flotilla’ was simply another obvious attempt by Hamas supporters to get an over-reaction from the Israelis. Well, they got it: Israelis back in the international dock, and the western media have swallowed the whole charade lock, stock and smoking barrel. Meanwhile, Israel remains surrounded by States dedicated to its destruction, and facing regular terrorist attacks from a ‘government’ which usurped democracy and has no international validity in law whatsoever.
Of course I’d like Israel to stop living the Old Testament in 2010. But mainly, I’d like all those middle-class, bleading heart folks in the West to stop gorging themselves on third rate Islamist propaganda. It doesn’t stack up and it smells – just like the whole ridiculous and staged account of this flotilla episode stinks to high Heaven.
