I don’t know how many Sloggers have been to the BBC most popular stories page today, but worldwide traffic to that site has been between 65-90% below normal all day.

Did I miss a nuclear war? Did the asteroid hit? Hits here are about 40% below the usual, but the Slog’s hits are so random, I gave up worrying about that ages ago. I was, however, intrigued as to why such a high-profile megasite should be getting just 1 in 10 of the users it usually gets.

Perhaps President O’Drama issued a fatwah on the Beeb to get his own back for BP. Perhaps there as been a spontaneous licence-payer demonstration to have Mark Thompson removed from polite society.

Does anyone have a theory/hypothesis/facts/inside-track on this?
