OBAMA & VAN ROMPUY: PROFILES IN POWER

There are clues lying around here and there
that we have the wrong Presidents in power.

Here’s a cheery thought for a week that kicked off with two doom-laden pieces from The Slog. (I know, it’s depressing – but try not to shoot the piano player).

The President of the United States faces the greatest fiscal challenge in the Nation’s glorious 244 history.
Before becoming President, he spent two terms as the Senator from Illinois.
Illinois is now bankrupt. It has been given the borrowing status KO by both Fitch and Moodys.

The President of the European Union faces the greatest survival challenge to the EU as an entity in its less than glorious twenty year history.
Before being chosen as President, he was the man in charge of keeping Belgium together as a nation State.
Belgium today more or less decided to break up into two separate entities.

Can you see where I’m coming from on this one?

I don’t often ask this of readers, but please copy this link to as many folks as you can bear, with the following message:

‘Democracy is a fine thing, but it brings with it responsibilities for the elector.
Think next time before you vote for guys who say yes they can, and write
Japanese poetry incredibly badly. They might not be the men for the job.’
