Attempting unsuccessfully to post something on the Politics.co.uk website this afternoon, I received the following jargobollocks in way of explanation:
‘Object reference not set to an instance of an object. An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below'
It certainly stands in the way of explaining anything as far as I’m concerned. And it simply won’t do to sigh and go ‘tecchie stuff baffles daft old pillock’: the above paragraph I personally find hysterically funny in a surreal sort of way, but I would defy anyone this side of Megageek to explain what the blue blazes it might mean to anyone, extra-terrestrial or otherwise.
Have you ever tried to identify something using an exception stack trace? It’s fine until you realise there’s no exception to the zero trace of stack anywhere.
We really must face unpleasant facts when it comes to propeller-heads: they are dangerous, because (a) they’re running the Pentagon Defcom system and (b) they are deranged. This is not a desirable combo.
