TORY EU SPLIT: Yet another IMFib from Cameron

Two-sides Camergob

UK IMF contribution could double

This is what the Prime Minister David Cameron told the House of Commons in October, following agreement to the last eurozone IMF tranche of UK money to help the all-powerful euro in June:

“What we anticipate doing would be within that [£10bn] headroom.”

But the word around Westminster and Brussels is that Dave and Ossie have already agreed to give a considerable sum to LeatherWoman’s tinpot Fund.

Wonderful verb, ‘anticipate’. Stops it from being an outright lie. But it is still a fib in my book – as it will be among the rising number of eurosceptics in the Conservative Party. Last time the IMF was bunged some money, 30 Tories voted against the Government. I suspect this time it will be more….depending, of course, on just how much Nospine and the Squeaky Draper have caved in about.

Camerlot sources admit that the subject will come up at the February summit, and that the UK will come under pressure to stump up anything from 20-30 billion euros. Which, if the current trend continues, should be worth about a fiver by then. Lantern-jawed steely hardcase David ‘Rockfist’ Cameron had better hope that’s what happens. Otherwise things could get very sticky indeed for the Coalition.

The euro was at 1.20.8 overnight.
