  It’s good to know that, in these days of po-faced correctness, there are still sub-eds with a lively sense of humour.

It reminds me of a TV commentator in the Sixties who, as the Queen mother launched the QE2, saw the ship moving slowly down the slipway, and said – just as the producer cut to a smiling Queen Mum – “And there she is, the whole vast bulk of her”.

Anyway, I wonder what name Wills will take when he finally gets to jump up onto the throne. We had Canute, perhaps he could be the first Canine. He certainly couldn’t be a King Charles spaniel. Or indeed Katherine’s Dog.

Ah well, there goes the Knighthood. Didn’t want the bloody thing after Fred Goodwin had been mauling it anyway.
