The Mayor of London Boris Johnson has been dipping his wick in the honey-pot of populism again today. Although he is allegedly a supporter of Britain’s Tory-Fluffy Coalition, BoJo waited just 24 hours after Thought Criminal Vince Cable had murmured about property taxes before delivering this podium gem to the CBI (my emphasis):
“We should have taxes that are low but fair and it is absurd to be suddenly whacking up taxes on cash poor people who happen to inhabit expensive houses in London”
Oh dear, I think Boris has caught a form of Selfpitius McAlpinitis. What about the rest of us for whom one could take out ‘cash’, ‘expensive’ and ‘London’ in that descriptor? The blond one really does give himself away on a regular basis.
That said, the Mayor has landed as usual upon the populist bourgeois planet where his future surely lies. For on the subject of property owners v multinationals, he is obviously backing a winner. Shame he didn’t include his chums in the bankster fraternity while he was at it.
However, we are all left wondering how poor old Dave disciplines this Fifth Columnist short of expelling him from the Tory Party.
