I surely can’t be the only observer to have noticed that a clearout is taking place prior to the arrival on July 1st of new Bank of England Governor Mark Canuck.
The SME defrauder Stephen Hester has been disappeared.
The Bank of England Libor manipulator Paul Tucker has gone.
Senior managers at the CoOp have been cajoled into sword-falling.
In short, all the human evidence pointing to political blame (and complicity in stealing) has gone. So the question some are asking tonight is this: has the British Establishment done this to be squeaky clean when the Canadian Carneyvale arrives….or has he insisted on all of it as the price of taking the job?
But to be honest, I very much doubt that it has anything to do with Carney either way. Much more likely is that Draper Osborne is doing a bit of Ministry of Truth re-writing prior to his own start in the Tory leadership race…which he has zero chance of winning of course, but that’s never stopped an MP in my lifetime.
You may have noted the tone he struck at tonight’s Mansion House speech: we’re going to return RBS to the private sector hahahahaha. Be in no doubt that this was aimed at the dingbats in the 1922 constituency. George is One Nation enough to appeal to the Party’s liberal wing, and austere enought to be at least acceptable to many on the right. It’s called politics.
