I understand that the word ‘pippa’ is Greek slang for a blow-job. Hence the phrase “hard on Pippa'” seems quite appropriate, especially if Bojo is involved – congratulations on that cunning stunt.

Well, some would obviously like to see Bojo “indicted” but perhaps City Hall Editor Pippa Crerar should check her articles for typos before publication, as the misuse of this word here implies her failure to understand that about which she is speaking …. and that goes for a lot of other contemporary journalists too.

Not sure that they can call early/snap elections any more, it all depends on the wording of the 2011 Act that declared 5 year fixed term parliaments from 2015 onwards. The assumption since that Act passed has been that the next GE would be May 7th 2015.

I suspect it has more to do with the panic generated from it only being 18 months to go and while Cameron’s personal rating is higher than Millipeeds and the Tories are ahead in all the major policy areas they are still 10 points adrift in General Election voting intentions. They are most likely betting on the current economic up-tick being the start of a recovery bounce. Personally I think it is more of the same ‘bouncing along the edge of recession’ as has been the situation for the last five years. As has been pointed out by far better economic minds than mine, you can only honestly call a recovery when QE has been reversed (unwound that is, although I doubt they ever had any real intention of doing so despite their claims) and base interest rates are normalised, conditions we have absolutely no hope of coping with at the moment. Never mind that despite official silence EU – Euro collapse is still very much on the cards and accelerating and the US is in exactly the same position as the UK, bouncing along on the edge of recession while all is far from well among the BRICS economies.

So the train fares are going up using a Calculation of Inflation at 3.1% + 1%…But Hooray !! My University Teachers Pension also goes up by the “Rate of Inflation”….Only this time it only seems to be calculated at a rate of 2.2%. Hmmmm !!

Lets also add in that train fares for my visits to London will go up in early January but my TP does not go up until next April.

Methinks I am being duped somewhere along the line ! ….So no thank-you votes for George or Boris from me when I buy my first New Year Travelcard !

so long as take home pay does not match REAL inflation then rail fares are not flat. Adding so called inflation to the price without an equal rise in take home pay means a price rise. It costs more not the same.
