Ed Miliband on Twitter even earlier still today:
I’m sorry, I know that this is going to offend a lot of people, but the relative irrelevance, banality and undiscerning nature of these tweets respectively confirm what I have always felt about Ed, red or otherwise: he is not made of the right stuff to take on the bastards standing ready to grind the small, the vulnerable, the innocent, and the decent into the mire of our country.
I’d venture to suggest that Ed Miliband could’ve been the sort of schoolteacher who never controlled his class, the kind of copper who was always having his helmet knocked off by ragamuffins, and the type of amdram script director who made the entire cast cringe at every rehearsal.
But what this man will never be able to do is display the tough, grounded, focused, and open-minded defiance of those who would put society to the sword. He will neither garner the respect of his followers nor the fear of his enemies.
He is, simply, Ed Miliband – the Human Tramline who can’t decide what to do at the points.
Cometh the hour, the man cometh not.
