It must be something of a millstone being called Ole Sloth Hansen, who is an oil analyst at Saxo Bank in Copenhagen. His name is exposed to a million gags, for example ‘When it comes to oil, the Oily Sloth Hasnen’t got it right at all.’ Anyway, Olé!….Ol’ Hansen the Sloth has been commenting on the oddity of plunging oil prices alongside the apparent Russian and Saudi desire to pump yet more of the Black Stuff.

“With the latest news from Russia and Iraq, the focus on rising supply remains a key negative driver for oil,” he said two days ago. I shudder at the thought of how many massive intellects were applied to the achievement of that conclusion. The only problem is (as the old saying has it) “A negative driver doth not an insight make”.

We are having a major thaw here….tediously grey skies and much dripping from trees. Perhaps this means game and second set to U(S)Kraine. It’s now one set all.

Who would’ve thought that the future of the US and the then USSR would one day depend entirely – not on long term climate change – but short term weather variations?
