GREECE/EUROGROUP SUMMIT: Talks collapse

Officials closely involved with Greek debt negotiations in Brussels tonight described the talks as in “complete breakdown”.

In particular, Greek sources blamed the slightly rebranded Troika insistence on keeping the current bailout programme as “utterly unreasonable”. One could quite justifiably say “they would say that”, but on the other hand it is hard to sympathise with a lunatic Berlin fringe view that reducing demand with austerity is the way to stimulate an economy.

Yanis Varoufakis wrote in various syndicated publications today that there was no bluffing on the Greek side. With every hour that he insists on this, the position on the other side of the table becomes weaker. Nothing will show this Brussels bluster up more than tomorrow’s market reaction….which will, let’s face it, be dire.

But the Eunatics insist that the Greek slavery trap ‘aid program’ must continue. The Slog proposes a new name for this iniquitously infinite timetable: Overpaid Pogrom.
