AN APPEAL TO THE LEFT: Can we please dump the phobia suffix and focus on the real social liberty problems we face?

I AM SICK TO DEATH OF THOSE WHO NEGLECT MAJORITY POVERTY IN FAVOUR OF MINORITY DEMANDS

Today is international trendy phobia day. That is to say, there is no intention whatsoever to help people who suffer from Lesbiaphobia, Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. Good gracious me no: this day is to celebrate the police coming down hard on those who are phobic about LGBTism.

All day, the Met has been tweeting about how every LGBT who’s ever been harassed by people phobic about them should come forward.

Next week: A Rally by the Anti-Agoraphobia League in support of wide open spaces, and the disgraceful bigotry of those phobic about them. SMASH SPACIST SCUM NOW.

I’m making two very simple points here. First, the above dig at all this tosh is merely pointing out that ‘phobia’ is a classic “framing” word designed by the Establishment to suggest that anyone who perhaps doesn’t like the contemporary obsession with minority sexual tastes is sick and in severe need of help. And a policeman’s cosh. And a spell at Her Majesty’s Pleasure…whatever it might be.

Second, what we’re witnessing here is politicised pc cops licking the ring of an insane culture – rather than working out how to solve high-volume crimes they no longer understand. The senior officers are cynical careerists trying to distract from the fact that cyber-crime, electronic transfer crime, digital ID crime and white-collar professional crime is out of control….and simply not reported. Just as in the 1920s J Edgar Hoover denied the existence of the Mob because he couldn’t catch any of them, so too the cops (and especially the Met) try to make LGBT bullying Public Enemy No 1. It’s pure spinbollocks.

My own Public Enemies No 1 & 2 are unwarranted privilege and bullying. Trust me, they aren’t mutually exclusive. But much as I detest knuckle-draggers who bully those with a harmless minority sexual orientation, the real level of those crimes is almost homoaeopathic compared to the ones outlined in the last paragraph.

There is another dimension to this that bugs me. For those in the Labour Party who haven’t yet caught onto life on the ground, the appeasement of demanding minorities does not win elections. What wins elections is getting more votes than one’s opponents on the basis of guts – not gullible drivel.

Like it or not, democracy is about majority rule, and respect for minorities. Not the obverse.

J Edgar Hoover denied the existence of the Mob because it was they who had caught him. He was in fact a homosexual and they had caught him and Tolson in the act and had pictures, Hoover was kept happy with mob sponsored ” luck” with the ponies, and he kept his bosses happy with relentless pursuit of Communists. He also kept his job by blackmail.
Hoover proved the idea of a national police force was just as insane as the founding fathers thought it was. The FBI is a political police force that has been used to ruthlessly suppress truth by supressing evidence , intimidating witnesess and conducting selective investigations against targets. When combined with biased Federal Judges and a dim witted public the FBI has been instrumental in creating the America we have today.

Many LGBT people are embarrassed about all of this too. Please don’t make the mistake of thinking that all are onboard by any means. It’s driven by a small noisy (and some might even say unhinged) minority within a minority.

While they’re flying rainbow flags the police in some areas are not actually investigating the real crimes such as LGBT people having their heads kicked in. Because of the lack of scrutiny over the last 20 years there’s now a high level of corruption amongst charities and businesses within the gay community and their cronies on Labour councils etc.

The bottom line is that LGBT people are victims of neoliberalism, ruthless commercial exploitation and marketing and political corruption the same as everyone else. Some of us are trying to fight it. So please don’t tar us all with the same brush.

Whoever we sleep with and whatever skin colour or religion we are, we all need to fight the sort of forces that John writes about.

I am now beginning to be embarrassed to say I served as a Met police officer in 70’s and 80’s. I received email from Owl messaging neighbourhood watch officers last week asking for VOLUNTEERS to run the ‘police station’ in St Albans. They actually got moved out of the ‘station’ to an office in the town hall recently. Volunteers needed to do the admin, report crimes, etc etc. However, the town hall is closed at weekends so people who work weekdays are unable to do anything about anything at weekends. Shameful. Have complained to MP’s. I wonder what they will say. Yeah, …….not much. (That’s Ann Main and Peter Lilley).

Several years ago I witnessed several hundred Shiites marching through the streets of London thumping their chest in unison as the mourned the death of Hassan. The women all dressed in black followed the men wailing and carrying on. I was standing next to a police officer and I made a sarcastic remark about the crowd, the police officer was having none of it. He said that these were ” very nice people” I’m sure the same can be said of the LGBT folks.

I’m just not sure of how many “very nice people” Britain can accommodate without coming apart.

Given we currently have “majority” party with less than 25% of the popular vote telling workers they shouldn’t be able to take industrial action unless 40% of those eligible to vote support such an action, I suspect I know who the “bullies” are.

On TV this week there was a report of a Gay Pride procession in Exeter , in which the police and the fire service took part. I noticed a WPC in uniform with rainbow stripes painted on her cheeks. To think we are actually PAYING her to do this. Our police are increasingly becoming unfit for purpose – the worry is what or who will replace them.
