INVASION OF THE PRIVACY SNATCHERS

But there is an overall observation I want to register this Saturday morning. It is this: perhaps the most important freedom of all is the average human being’s desire for privacy.

Smart phones track us wherever we go…without permission. Where I live here – in a Gambian apartment block – there is absolutely no respect at all for my right as a leasehold property owner to demand the right to permission from me before any access to my private property is effected. My right not to have my ears blasted off by noise pollution is ignored…despite clearly stated legislation about unacceptable levels of noise being subject to punishment via the Law. My citizen right to be left alone is abused at every turn. My right to a British State pension was abruptly cancelled this year: only a bitter five-month battle restored the pension stolen from me by those who wish to invade my private decision to live in a Black African country.

None of these invasions of my private persona were invaded by elected officials. Rather, they were authorised by self-appointed, over-promoted nosey parkers in greedy organisations and bureaucratic power-zones trying to create an opinion-gestalt suggesting that resistance is futile….with which we must all comply.

Every time I try to transfer money, some brainless banker prick wants to know why I’m doing it. Are we therefore to conclude that it’s any of their fucking business whether I want to donate the money to a donkey sanctuary or just take advantage of a buyer’s market? This too is an unacceptable invasion of my private affairs. They claim their concern is for “my” money: but this is a pinnacle of Everest-like hypocrisy. Globally aligned banking rules now follow the utterly ridiculous Catholic transubstantion nonsense that when I deposit my money in their bank, it becomes their money. This is surely a form of science that is not so much settled as unsettling drivel.

As the prolific opinionist John Day MD reminded me a few weeks ago, “We are all unsecured lenders to the Banks”.

They can rape us in public or private. But on the whole, such are their depraved proclivities, they prefer public.

And yet and yet….the Freedom of Speech here is a joy. I haven’t bitten my tongue since January 2021.

All 21st century life is a trade-off. You pays yer money, and yer takes yer pick.
