DRIVEL OF THE DAY: Reuters on the British car manufacturing revival that is neither revived nor British.

tickerguytitleIt is only fair, I think, to expect a site called Reuters to display at least a modicum of business acumen and statistical accuracy. But based on today’s latest load of old cobblers, I think we see but a minicum of acumen, a maxicum of inaccuracy, a sprinklicum of mendacity, and an infinicum of eccentricity.

I realise it’s old-fashioned of me to point such things out, but a German company making profitable cars in the UK does not deliver profit to the sovereign bottom line…and the rest of the pack knocking out metal at loss-leader discounts isn’t going to make UK car dealerships any less disastrously unprofitable than they already are.

The only winners out of this will be the credit divisions of the manufacturers. And none of those are British either.
