So true. Take cheese for instance, cheese attracts VAT, no idea why as it’s a basic foodstuff, in my case there’s 14% tax on that cheese. If I make my own, even if it’s the same price as the shops, I come out ahead. I’ve got a delicious hunk of unique cheese and the middleman who had nothing to do with it is out 14%. Call me weird, but any time I can chisel one cent from the bastardy government I’m happy.

What the period post 2008 should have clearly shown us, is that ‘They who know better’ will not allow economic realities to interfere with their apirations. Surely the open admissions from the likes of Juncker, Draghi, Bernanke and the like, that all the lying and misallocation of resorces that result from the pursuit of their aspirations, is being done for our own good, is a signal most clear that when the collapse does come, the consequences will be beyond our comprehension.
I have tried, with some friends of mine, to play out versions of consequences, using the conditions that these consequences need not be restricted by our current legal and moral notions. Some of the consequences were unsettling, to say the least.
The whole exercise reminded me of Nietzsche postulation that if we accept that God is dead then we have to leave the comforts and security of the temple to face the truth squarely. I for one must concede that the comforts and security provided by the current temple are still seductive.

The recent fall in US bond yields (10 year below 2.5%) is a canary singing for deflation. Still the answer for everything will be to press print later this year.The next Minsky Moment they won’t be able to cut interest rate and expand government borrowing so printing is the only trick these ponies/donkeys have left.

I remember the story about Midas…Gold was his thing; he loved-nay worshipped it. He got his wish to have everything he had touched, turn to gold, oh how happy was he? well, very, thank you very much. until…he touched his daughters head…
He had to revalue his values.

Only people with money worry about it- how to make it- how to keep it, but at the end of the day it is just bits of paper saying ” I promise to pay the bearer”…

Now, many people are going back to the old days way, way, back. It is called swap your fish for my home made cheese. People using skills and talents to make a living- no tax-no paper work. Just people gathering to share skills and foods. It’s the next thing to the pound shop. with out the paper stuff.

it’s like the unsupervised pressure cooker – it’s going to blow!
