HB you’re exactly right. I saw a BBC doccie where they are treating dementia with nicotine. “Great drug, poor delivery system” in a nutshell, so roll-ups are the thing or at least a stylish pipe.

Nids: Implant if you can afford it/them, as long as the job is properly done and the anchor secure. Denture is a bit of a pain, I have one, but needs to be chrome (not the tooth!) rather than acrylic – dearer but worth it. Re the smoking: change to roll ups, say to yourself no more packet cigs ever, and watch the numbers go down – usually by 30% –50% in the end but who knows? Good luck.

I’ve been quoted ZAR 15-17,000 per tooth, that’s 800-1000 of ya pounds. Took me three weeks to get an appointment so obviously this is a lucrative dental specialty. I’m still not giving up smoking. As the comedian says, smoking shortens your life, but it’s that horrible bit at the end isn’t it?

While Martin Schultz’ repugnant but true colours have been apparent for some time, it’s likely that “ignoring similar arrogant rulers” is an approach destined to induce even more overweening hubris. There are only two ways to change the status quo – either by a massive electoral rejection or a revolution, neither of which seem imminent.

I’m in South Africa and we have fantastic dentists along with a weak currency, so this is the best place for me to have it done, I’m just dreading dreading dreading. Also implants aren’t “compatible” with smoking, and I’m down to 20 a day but not good enough. Apparently.

Have you considered Kerala. I know someone who lives in France and it was cheaper for him to fly there than to have them done in France. I understand you aren’t in France, but it may be worth considering. Can find out details if you want.

Another vote, that is Democracy done with for now.
Now people go back to sleep, till the next election.
Why bother, it only encourages our masters and gives them credibility.
Roll on 2015 in the UK
40% turn out.
Choice a] UKIP/Conservative Coalition, or b] Labour/LibDem Coa;ition. Or even c] a Labour/Conservative Coalition?
Then again would any of the options make a difference?

I know, there’s soup, yoghurt, ice cream and jelly. I mentioned this because I’m going to have to get an implant or a plate soon (Friday). So tell me about the alternatives, because I don’t like either option. I need the least worst option, just like my representative in Parliament.

I voted Thursday, for UKIP.
For the last 10 years, I’ve marked my voting papers “No votes for lying, thieving incompetents.”
At the top of the yard long sheet was a party I’d never heard of : UK Independence Now.
Near the bottom was UKIP.
I wonder how many that little trick caught?
Dirty pool.

Useful to see the whole spectrum of votes in EU. All countries, including Sweden, focused on their own country’s issues but the barrage of propaganda to go out and VOTE, which I assume was a EU-wide phenomena to legitimate the EU, didn’t work well, voting went up from 45 to only 49 percent in Sweden.

Sweden is a dwarf in this context. With 21 seats in EU’s largely powerless parliament it was bizarre to see that each Swedish candidate held forth on what their own wishes were for the EU to decide. The main issue to fire them was to criticise Denmark for cutting off the tails of pigs. This they must stop!! The issue of all the various alliances in the EU parliament was never even mentioned.

Anyway, here are the seats won or held by party, from top to bottom:

All votes: 48.9%
Vänster (Left): gains 0 seat (vote up by 0.6%, holding their one seat)
Feminist Initiative up from zero seats to 1 seat (vote up from zero to 5.3%)
Greens 6.5% up 1% gained 1 seat (vote up 4.4% to 15.3%, giving 1 gain in seat up from 2 to 3 seats)
Social Democrats: down by 0.2 percent to 24.4% (seats held 6, no change)

On the bourgeois side Moderates lost out to the small bourgeois parties:
Moderates 13.6% down 5.2%, holding 3 of their 4 seats
Centre Party (rural neoliberal) up 1% to 6.5%, hold their 1 seat
Christian Democrats 6% (up 1.3% hold their 1 seat)
Folk Party down 3.6% to 10%, (lost 1 of their 3 seats)
Sweden Democrats (anti-immigrant) up 6.5%, gaining 2 seats (from 0 before)
Pirate Party 2.2% down from 4.9%
June List (want out of EU) down from 3.3% to 0.3%
other (spoiled ballot?) unchanged at 0.4%.

I think this shows clearly how small and insignificant Sweden’s role is in the EU. As is the case for all small states. The ex-Warsaw Pact countries in John’s chart always have a high % vote.

In Eastern Europe particularly, I think there is a feeling that others are going to make all the decisions anyway, so why vote? It only encourages their local lackeys.

I came across this in Serbia some years ago during a general election. It was in a town equivalent to an English county town which was packed with people for the local wine festival. The polling station was in the grammar school and in mid to late morning was almost completely deserted.

Slovakia appears the most indifferent and has had a very rough deal . As a country it had kept to all the rules for joining the euro currency but ended up being forced to pay a substantial sum into the bail out fund for far richer countries, like Italy and Greece which had broken every rule in the book. The deputy prime minister rebelled, saying that the treaty said that no country could be made liable for the debts of another. The revolt lasted all of three days.

There was a very telling video of Martin Schultz, president of the EU Parliament berating this man for his lack of European “solidarity”.
“How many people do you represent?” he demanded.

” I am president of the European parliament and represent all the people of Europe”

Well the Slovaks have seen many similarly arrogant rulers before and obviously feel that the best thing is to ignore them as far as possible, whilst accepting what they cannot alter.
