BREAKING…..How a Bill to make MPs more accountable has been turned into a purging weapon for the Executive

Having written in a fairly jocular fashion yesterday about how David Cameron defines politicians on the basis of their embezzlement and tax evasion habits, a related but more serious matter on the dimension of dishonest MPs is now developing. And once again, I’m indebted to 38 Degrees (whose overall agenda I don’t share) for pointing it out to me.

Some time ago, the Government promised – at the height of the public backlash about the best part of 570 out of 620 MPs being at the trough minus only their bibs – to draft a Bill designed to allow for open censure of MPs who committed crimes, or were (like most MPs) completely f**king useless. But predictably, time has passed….and the pinched goblins have been allowed into the process. The result is that, yet again, the idea is for MPs to police themselves oh please, no more or else at my age I might wet myself.

The Executive wants to put the power to sack MPs into their colleagues’ hands – not their constituents. A group of  MPs spoke out today saying they didn’t think this was good enough. They’re backing real ‘recall’ – that is to say, a monitored but electorate-based ability to sack the MP and elect another one.

If you think this is a bad idea – and pretty much anything the Swinging Dicks at Westminster favour is a very bad idea indeed – then this is the place for you to go:

All that said, my concern about the nature of this drafted bill – which I have yet to see, Mr Paxman, but another (who has) alarmed me with her description of it a couple of hours ago – is not just for more democratic accountability. My worry is that it gives any future political Executive a Purgers’ Charter.

It would not require the IQ of a quantum physicist to manufacture a system whereby those in the Whips’ book of infamy could be persuaded to bear false witness in order to be rid of the odd troublesome priest. In the days of Militant, local committee power could be perverted to purge the revisionists; now the other extreme of the political rainbow (where lies the pot of mythical gold) have the chance to do the same.

If this sounds paranoid, do try to remember the litigants’ charter, the BUPA Charter, the Oligarchs’ anti-Legal Aid Charter, and the Builders’ Charter – all of them presented, rebuffed or occasionally let slip through by the current shower on behalf of the Corporatocracy since 2012. Then remember the 37,262 controlling legal instruments passed by the Blairocracy in the 13 years before that, the lies spouted by Jacqui ‘Pornhubby’ Smith at the Home Office about Britain’s security agencies, andonandonandonandonandon….

Occasional Euroelections aside, we should never lose focus about what’s going on here in the West: politics, the Law, the media, and the Constitution are being rapidly eroded, the easier to make the ill people’s mad plan for society to serve business come to fruition – rather than the other way round.

There was a delightfully hypocritical piece of self-serving drivel from Mayor Johnson at the Sarkograph this morning, saying how the EU reform movement wants to return power to the People. Borisconi omitted to mention that this is the last thing he wants: he is, after all, at the centre of the sellout to neoliberal gangsters. As with Ezak’s plan for a private railroad through the NHS, 38 Degrees is offering us a chance to blow up the train at best….or at the very least, derail the bugger.

So I offer it to you as, for once, a petition worth signing. While you still can.
